Anywhere Book Club turns reading into play, conversation and connection.

A pocket-sized idea for families who want to make books feel less like homework, and more like a way of playing, talking and connecting.

Reading with young kids can be a breeze, or a battle of epic proportions; especially when there’s tiredness, boredom or frustration in the mix. That’s where Anywhere Book Club‘s idea starts: small companion booklets that turn reading time into games, conversations and imaginative prompts, guided by adults rather than left for them to make up in the moment.

Founded by two teachers and mums, Natasha and Saskia, the idea is simple: each booklet is designed to accompany a contemporary picture book chosen by ABC. Inside are relevant questions to ask along the way, word games to play and small creative challenges to try, all helping to take the pressure off thinking on the spot.

ABC’s concept is a great experience from the start, from waiting for the book to arrive (something we’re keen on in an age of immediacy) to the clear design, fun characters and touch of minimalist charm that leave you with a nice keepsake. With illustration by Marcus Oakley, the whole thing brings a warmth and clarity that feels considered without being overcooked. It sits somewhere between educational resource and beautiful object, serious in purpose but playful in use.

For parents, Anywhere Book Club helps our kids see that literacy doesn’t have to be another homework task, but something fun we can share together.

You can buy ABC’s companion booklets with or without the storybook, depending on whether you already have it. Visit their store to learn more.
